Benefits of Cross Cut vs. Strip Cut Shredders

When you are purchasing an office shredder, you will find that the first choice that you have to make is whether you want a cross cut shredder or a strip cut shredder. If you are buying an industrial shredder you will almost certainly choose a cross cut shredder since every high security shredder out there cuts in this fashion.
The reason that the high security shredder is a cross cut shredder is because cross cutting makes it almost impossible to piece together the documents that have been shredded and therefore improves the effectiveness of the shredder. It is fairly easy to re-piece documents that have gone through a strip shredder which means that you won’t get the level of security that you’re probably seeking in a shredder.
In addition to the fact that the cross cut shredder is much more safe and secure than the strip shredder, there are additional benefits to using the cross cut shredder. One is that the average trash bag can hold significantly more cross cut paper pieces than it can strip cut paper pieces so you will be saving on waste. You will also typically find that the cross cut shredder is easier to operate and offers more options in terms of the settings on the machine than what you’ll get with a strip cut shredder.
