Great ways to boost your competence in information security

Computer usage has been on a steady incline and with it the need for strong information security. Whether it is to increase your knowledge base or to pass the Certified Information Systems Security Professional exam which tests a wide range of pertinent concepts, completing relevant training and certifications will always help you become a better professional in your field.

The CISSP certification is of course one of the biggest giants in the industry. It draws upon the “Common Body of Knowledge”, or CBK, to help standardize the least amount of knowledge any seasoned professional in systems security should have a working competency with. CISSP education may include such things as the CISSP boot camp to help a professional get an edge with their knowledge of laws and regulations that are very important in the field, development of security policy, procedures enabling the development of secure software, the vulnerabilities of different networks, countermeasures to combat various attack types on systems security, and much more.

An ethical hacking course is another great way to arm one’s self responsibly in the defense against the security predators that will inevitably and invariably crop up as technology increases in leaps and bounds into the future. It’s definitely a good idea to investigate these different options to give yourself a sound knowledge base, and keep yourself marketable in this growing industry.
