My Mother Loved Yoga

When I think about the mother of my childhood, I remember her doing yoga and gymnastics in the living room of our home.  My mom loved exercising, and was always interested in trying out new things that were supposed to be good for the body.  Consequently, I remember her doing a lot of yoga when I was a kid.

She practiced on a daily basis.  She bought exercise videos on how to do yoga.  She took yoga classes.  My mom loved yoga.

More recently, I’ve begun hearing about something new, something called Dahn Yoga.  I wonder what she would think of that?  Of course, it sounds like Dahn Yoga might be a little harder or require more dedication than the "recreational yoga" my mom did, but still — I could see her really getting into this.  Basically, Dahn Yoga is like tai chi, yoga, and martial arts, all combined.  Although its founder, Ilchi Lee, started teaching Dahn Yoga in the 1980s, I think it’s been only in the last 15 years or so that it has gained national popularity.

Now you can find Dahn Yoga in New York, California, and in many other states.  Chicago Dahn Yoga is also very popular.
