Learning To Clean a Sleep Apnea Machine

I recently agreed to assist a friend in cleaning out her garage and helping her to sort her junk into give away, recycle and trash piles. As we went through the items that she had stored away for so long, we came across a piece of medical equipment that I had never seen before. When I asked her what it was, she said that it was a sleep apnea machine her father had used for awhile.

I assumed that this was something that would go in the trash but she said that it could actually be given away. The only problem was that this CPAP machine was really dirty so I had to figure out how to clean it before putting it in the give away pile. I had no idea if CPAP equipment needed to be cleaned a certain way or if certain cleaning products had to be used on it. I hoped my friend would know but she didn’t.

My first solution to this problem was to go to the Internet. That’s where I learn almost everything and I figured there’d be information on how to clean a sleep apnea machine. Unfortunately, I was wrong. At first I wasn’t sure what to do but then I had the idea that we could call a doctor and ask him about this issue. I used the Internet to find a doctor specializing in sleep disorders and placed the call. Sure enough, he was able to tell me how to clean the equipment and even gave me information on where we could donate it.

Cosmetic Dentistry Should Be Like a Day Spa

Most people hate going to the dentist but they don’t feel the same way about getting cosmetic dentistry done. A review of the different dentists in Washington DC will reveal that Washington DC cosmetic dentistry differs significantly in terms of the experience that you’ll have as compared to standard Washington DC dental service. In fact, patients of cosmetic dentistry in the area say that it’s a lot like going to a day spa.

When you go to get cosmetic work done, the goal is your happiness as opposed to just your health. As a result, good dentist DC practices seen in cosmetic dental offices tend to be all about maximizing your comfort. You’ll be treated to fresh fruit and juices in the lounge while you wait for your appointment. You’ll be offered a neck pillow and other creature comforts during the procedure.

When you get traditional dental services, you’re going to a doctor for the purpose of getting healed. When you go to a cosmetic dentist, you’re going to a beauty specialist who is going to make you look and feel your best. The difference in the reasons that you’re there make all the difference in how you’re going to be treated. That difference makes the cosmetic dentist experience a much more pleasant one than what you’re used to from a dentist.

What Triggers Growth Spurts?

Most of us take for granted the fact that people grow taller when they are young, and stop growing taller sometime during puberty.  But what triggers these growth spurts, and what makes them end?

Growth hormone has a lot to do with it.  This is a hormone that the body produces in order to bring about growth and development.  Part of this is the division of cells, but another part of it is an increase in height and muscle mass.

Growth spurts are a normal part of childhood and puberty.  It’s no secret that proper nutrition during these important years can cause a child to grow taller than he might otherwise; however, in most industrialized countries, the type of malnutrition that stunts growth is actually pretty rare.

Some people, however, aren’t happy with their height, and would like to change it long after puberty has ended.  By doing a quick Google search, it appears this may not be as impossible as logic would tell us.  There are many growth hormone supplements that claim to be able to add inches to your height.  I haven’t tried these myself, so I can’t say from experience if they work, but it certainly sounds like it’s possible that they do!

Alcoholism Treatment

Is it just me or are there more drunks on the streets? I don’t mean old-time homeless drunks. I mean kids out for a night-out getting drunk and being obnoxious. No wonder there has been more publicity about alcohol rehab programs recently.

Alcohol treatment takes the form of some type of rehab program. This is usually built around the twelve-step program introduced by Alcoholics Anonymous in the 1930s. This can either be done in an outpatient or inpatient setting. The goal of this treatment for alcohol abuse is to get the individuals sober and give them the tools to lead a productive life free from addictions of any type.

I don’t know what it is that makes people get drunk and indulge in anti-social behavior. I do know that these people should receive alcohol treatment before it becomes a problem in their lives. Before their world spirals out of control and falls apart. I’m tired of having to avoid with drunk people when I am on a night out. How would you deal with this problem?

You Know It Is Time To Quit Smoking When…

My mom is a smoker and has been for years. Despite all of us begging her to quit, despite her chronic asthma, she carries on with her two-pack a day habit. So for my mother, and for any of you other smokers out there, I’ve compiled a list.

Here they are, in no particular order, the top five signs that it’s time for my mom (and you) to give up that nasty habit:

1)       Instead of getting a really cool Mother’s Day gift (because she loves to cook) like Smartware Bakeware or the Miracle Blade set of new knives, she gets an Ionic Pro Air Purifier. Because her house STINKS!
2)       Because her senses of taste and smell are shot, her cooking isn’t even as good as it once was.
3)       Her grandchildren hold their breath when it’s time to kiss her. She has become the dreaded Smelly Grandma.
4)       Last Christmas, she practically got frostbite on her fingers because she kept sneaking out in the freezing weather to light up.
5)       She complains that food has gotten “too expensive”, but won’t bat an eye to plunk down over 50 bucks a week on smokes.

And, of course, there’s the whole cancer and emphysema stuff too.

So, to you Mom, and the rest of you smokers… it’s time to be a bunch of quitters!
