My brother had some dental work done a few months ago.  I don’t know the details of the procedures, but he got porcelain veneers and his bottom jaw straightened out a little.  His mouth was a little out of whack before, and now it certainly looks sharp.  He said he got very comfortable dental care.  I guess they sedated him and the whole process was relatively smooth and painless.  The surprising thing is that he’s done quite a bit better at his job since then.  He’s a real estate agent.  I’m not sure exactly why that is. 

We all judge people on first impressions, even though we’d like to not be influenced by superficial things like appearance.  Maybe people have a harder time trusting someone with a crooked smile.  It may also simply be that his smile makeover gave him the confidence he needed to realize his potential.  I definitely noticed that he carried himself a little straighter and prouder afterwards.  I also noticed that he smiled a lot more after the operation.  I never thought about it before, but I guess he was always a little ashamed to show his smile back when his teeth weren’t so good.

Christmas is barely a month away.  And as early as now, I have already written down my Christmas shopping list.

I have always had wanted to do some improvements on our bedroom.  But in the past, our financial priority was always focused on our house’s mortgage.  But thank God, we finally finished the mortgage before the global financial problem struck.

Now even amidst the financial problem affecting a lot of people, I won’t be stopped from having a Christmas shopping.  I guess we are wise spenders and now we want to spend our money on improving our bedroom.

On top of my list is a new bedroom set.  I found one online that seems beautiful and yet the price is affordable.  I liked the low standing bed with a hardwood frame to match our house’s rural ambiance.  I am also thinking of buying additional pure cotton comforters to protect us the cool countryside weather.

I hope other bedroom furniture is also in my husband’s shopping list.  I have always wanted a nice bedroom valet stand with mirror that has a height that is just perfect.  Maybe I can take my husband to the store and hint at that item.

I’m sure this will be a great Christmas.

When going to stay at a friend’s home for an overnight visit or having dinner for an evening at a family member’s home, it is always nice to arrive with a hostess gift to acknowledge the effort of your hostess went through to prepare for your arrival. If your friend or family member collects a specific thing, it would be nice to add to their collection. A bottle of wine is a nice addition to a meal prepared for your pleasure. If you have no idea what to give your hostess, a universal item used in any house is a candle.

While a hostess gift isn’t expected, it is a nice touch when arriving for an overnight stay or a prepared meal and shows good manners.  Giving the gift of jar candles shows you were thinking of your hostess and wanted to acknowledge your friendship or family relationship. The nice thing about giving the gift of richly scented candles is it brightens the home and is something everyone uses. Candles usage is widespread so you don’t have to worry if your hostess has a particular interest or affinity for the item. Ultimately, the gesture of the gift is as important as the gift itself.
