When my sister and I were growing up, we had these crazy neighbors whom we were very scared of. It was an old couple with cranky dispositions and a backyard full of orchids. I can remember them yelling at us for climbing over our own fence, riding our bikes on the sidewalk (evidently they wanted us to get run over), and for setting our sprinklers so that the overspray watered their precious flowers.
Our neighbors put a lot of effort into their orchids, that’s for sure. If anyone ever was an expert on orchid flower care, it would be them! Seriously, if you asked them about phalaenopsis orchid care or cattleya care, you’d probably get a full lecture on the subject. They even experimented in creating their own hybrids.
Even though they still live next door to my parents today, they don’t seem to have changed much. I often joke that they were old 20 years ago, so what does that make them now…? They are still as cranky as ever, of course, although they don’t seem as scary now as they did when I was eight.

Many people, especially those with older cars, dread have to try to meet state inspections Houston requirements. Buying a hybrid vehicle offers a solution, at least to the emissions-related problems many auto owners face.
Getting an older vehicle to pass emissions can be difficult, as high mileage engines typically don’t run as clean as they did when they were still new. This may cause the owners of these cars to spend a lot of money on foreign and domestic automotive repair, compounding the costs associated with owning and driving an older vehicle.
Many newer cars, on the other hand, are being made with energy conservation — particularly gas mileage and emissions — in mind. Toyota is a great example of this: Not only is Toyota making and selling the most (and the best) hybrids out of all the car manufacturers, they are also planning on releasing a plug-in hybrid within the next couple of years. Although the car will no doubt require the expertise of specialty Asian automotive repair shops in order to perform regular maintenance and repairs, my guess is that most car owners will consider it well worth it if that means that they spend considerably less on gas — and can sleep better at night knowing they’re doing something to help the environment.

If you are interested in a career in the culinary arts, you will need to get a degree from a culinary institute. Your education will help you launch a career when you have little or no job experience in the industry.
Here are the steps you will need to take to find a culinary institute:
- Check the Internet. The Web is a great source and can really be helpful to you in your search. Don’t forget to search for schools in your area, though, or you’ll pull up the websites for all the culinary schools across the United States!
- Make a list of the schools in your area. Location should be a pretty effective way to narrow down the list of schools.
- Research the programs each school offers. Different schools offer different programs, so look at the culinary arts degree requirement for each school. Take note of the total credit hours required, and how they break down — how many classes in cooking, nutrition, management, etc.
- Research the cost of each school. Unless cost is not an issue for you, you will need to make sure the school you choose fits into your budget. Write down individual costs, as well as the total estimated cost — including classes, books, etc. — you will ultimately pay to attend each school.
- Research each school’s reputation. When you are looking to start a new career based solely on your education, you need to make sure your degree will pass muster with potential employers. The best way to do this is to actually call employers you would want to work with, and ask them what they typically think when they see a degree from a certain school on an applicant’s resume. You could also ask them which schools hold the most clout with them when they are choosing between applicants.
Once you have researched all of these things, you can start deciding between them. Prioritize what you want most out of your culinary training, and narrow your list down to the schools that offer this. Then you can start using other factors, the ones you consider still important but less so, to narrow down your list even more.

Blackberry phones have a number of features that make them unique — and very desireable. Here is a list of reasons why a Blackberry phone just might be the phone of your dreams.
- Download Blackberry ringtones quickly and easily. Unlike other phones, which require you to jump through hoops in order to download ringtones, Blackberry ringtones are amazingly easy to download using your Blackberry web browser. (Not at all like the infamous iPhone ringtones, which essentially require you to purchase a song twice — once to buy the song, and again to purchase the conversion into a ringtone.) You can even download ringtones or songs you already own, simply by resizing the MP3 file and uploading it to the Internet.
- Listen to music on your Blackberry. Another reason why it is so easy to download ringtones is because your Blackberry also doubles as an MP3 player, enabling you to download music and listen to it at any time!
- Browse the web. Downloading ringtones isn’t the only thing you can do with your Blackberry web browser. Surf the web just like you would from any computer!
- Check email. Your Blackberry also enables you to check email on-the-go — a great feature for busy people and business owners especially!
- Stay organized. The Blackberry also doubles as an organizer, which syncs to your computer. Store your address book, task list, and calendar where you can access it at any time!
Blackberry phones are great phones to have! There are many more reasons than the ones listed above, but these should certainly help demonstrate why so many people love their Blackberries.

There are many ways to market your business. Although the focus these days is primarily on methods of online marketing, there are many other effective types of marketing, such as the use of promotional products. Here are a few great ideas for marketing your business.
- Leave promotional pens where they’ll work the hardest for you. Keep a bunch of pens stamped with your business’s name and contact information on hand. Then, whenever you sign a credit card receipt, discreetly leave your pen behind. Cashiers are always in need of pens, due to customers who walk off with theirs. Your pen will be used by dozens, if not hundreds, of customers — some of which may note your business name and eventually become customers, or refer someone else who will.
- Distribute promotional notepads. Real estate agents have been doing this for years: Circulating notepads with their name, picture, and contact info on each page. This way, when the homeowner has to move, the agents information is literally right at their fingertips. Add magnets to the back of your pads, and you’ve instantly made your promotional items far more valuable: People love notepads that stick on the fridge, so that they’re always handy when needed!
- Give away promotional desk items. Office and desk supplies are great places to have your company name and contact info. And many business owners love not having to spend money on office supplies, so they’ll eat this stuff up — and then when they need the products or services you offer, they’ll think of you first, since they already see your name every day! Make sure your promotional desk items are in keeping with your business, though — if they aren’t items your target market will use on a regular basis, then they’re of no use to you.
There are many other ways to use promotional products to market your business. With a little creativity, you can really make your promotional items work hard for you!
